Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was assaulted in Welwyn Garden City last week (Wednesday, January 26).

The incident took place at around 6.10pm when a man and a woman were getting out of a vehicle in Birds Close. They were approached by three men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas who assaulted the man a number of times and made off towards Caponfield, whilst the woman went for help.

The victim, a man in his 40s from Welwyn Garden City, suffered serious injuries to his hand which required hospital treatment.

DC Dave Riggs is investigating and said: “We are looking into the possibility that this was a premeditated assault.

“I am keen to determine whether there were any witnesses to this incident and would ask anyone who believes they may have seen this incident take place, or the men running from the scene to contact me.”
