Man stabbed - another stamped on

A man in his 20s is seriously ill after being stabbed near a nightclub, while another's been hit with a belt and stamped on in a linked attack.

Bedfordshire Police the two attacks followed an argument in Church Street, Luton at around 4am on Sunday 15 May 2011.

A man was arrested at 4.13am following an initial attack that saw the first victim hit with a belt, knocked to the ground and stamped on.  Shortly afterwards, police received a call from the Luton and Dunstable Hospital reporting that a man the same age had been brought in with stab wounds.

Luton's Park Street and Church Street were cordoned off for much of the morning of Sunday 15 May 2011.  People wanting to go to St Mary's church were allowed through the cordon for the morning service.
