An 18 year old man's been attacked with a hammer by two masked robbers in Leighton Buzzard.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm as the victim was riding his bike with his friend who was walking along an alleyway which leads from Lake Street to South Street in Leighton Buzzard close to Morrisons supermarket. As the pair made their way towards South Street they were attacked by the two men. The victim’s friend managed to escape and run away but the victim was assaulted with a hammer and suffered injuries to his head, shoulder and arms. His bag containing a mobile phone, wallet and cash were stolen and the two offenders ran away towards Lake Street.

The two offenders were both white males who were in their mid to late teens. The first offender was around five feet five inches tall, of average build and wearing a dark blue hooded top with an Adidas logo on the left chest and dark blue jogging bottoms. The second offender was of a similar height, slender build and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Lucy Arnold, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack or seen the offenders in the area either before or after the robbery.

DC Arnold said: “This was a very violent attack which thankfully didn’t result in serious injury but the victim has been left extremely shaken and upset. I’d urge anyone who may have seen the offenders to get in contact with us as quickly as possible so we can stop them causing any more harm to residents in the town.”
