Detectives are appealing for information to trace a man they believe may have vital information which could assist their investigation following a serious assault in Stevenage.

It happened at around 2.10 am on Sunday September 15th outside the Bank Lounge Bar on the High Street in Stevenage.

The male victim was outside the The Bank when he was approached by another man who came out of the lounge bar and punched him in the jaw, causing him to momentarily lose consciousness and fall backwards, hitting his head on the pavement.

The victim sustained a cut to the back of his head requiring stitches, and his teeth cut through his bottom lip, causing scarring.

PC Jodie Coyle, from Stevenage Police station, who is investigating the incident, said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack on a man who had been enjoying a night out with friends. He was left with painful injuries which have caused permanent scarring. I am very keen to speak with this man, who was wearing a Newcastle United shirt, and who may have vital information which could assist our investigation. Is this man you? - Or do you know who he is? If so, I would urge you to come forward immediately."

Anyone with information can contact PC Coyle on 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers, the independent charity on 0800 555 111.
