Sex Assault Rumours 'Not True'

22 February 2012, 12:31

Police are trying to reassure women after rumours a young boy's been luring females into being attacked in Hertfordshire by saying he needs help.

Schools have been put on alert as a result of the rumours, which have been spread through social media websites.

Hertfordshire's police say they have looked into the rumours and they insist there's no evidence this has been happening in the county.

They believe the rumours centre around a story that originated in the United States of America.

Hertfordshire Constabulary say "whilst people should be generally aware of their personal safety at all times, residents in Hertfordshire should not be concerned that this type of activity is taking place."
