Teen Arrested After Hitchin Assault

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was assaulted in Hitchin on Saturday evening (April 2nd).

At approximately 6.45pm, four male youths attacked a 54 year old man whilst he was walking through Walsworth Common.  During the course of the incident the victim was pushed down some steps and punched in the face before the offenders made off on foot.  As a result of the incident the victim suffered a broken shoulder.
 
PC Steve Cook is investigating and said: “This was a shocking assault which has resulted in the victim sustaining serious injuries. I am calling for the public’s help in tracing those responsible and would like to speak with anyone who was in the park at the time and believes they saw what happened.
 
“I am particularly interested in speaking with a woman who pointed out one of the offenders to officers who initially attended the incident.”

A 17 year old boy from Hitchin has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
