Teen In Court Over New Year Death

An 18 year old's appeared in court charged with killing a man stabbed at a New Year's Eve houseparty in Luton.

Michael Geffken, 42, died from a heart attack after being stabbed in the chest at his girlfriend's house in Hemsley Close on Luton's Hockwell Ring estate at around 3 am on Sunday 1 January 2012.

Ryan Curtis, 18, of Gilderdale, Luton, was charged with murder on the evening of Tuesday 3 January.  He appeared before magistrates in Luton on Wednesday 4 January where he was remanded in custody.  He is due to appear at Luton Crown Court on Tuesday 17 January.

Two other teenagers - a boy and a girl - have been released on police bail in connection with the case.

Mr Geffken was originally from Germany, but had lived in the UK for many years.
