Tributes Paid to Crash Victim

20 April 2011, 13:44

Family of 24-year-old Liam Haley would like to issue the following tribute to him after he sadly died following a road traffic collision on Tuesday April 12.

The incident happened at 10.13pm, when the red Honda Civic Type R which Liam was in collided with a lamp post in Icknield Way, just east of the junction with Pascal Way.

Liam was born on September 28 1986 and had lived in Baldock all his life. He went to Weston Way Nursery followed by St Mary’s Primary School – both in Baldock. He then went to Hailey Hall School in Hertford. At secondary school he enjoyed sport, especially water sports and swimming.

He left school at 16 and worked as a labourer. He loved cars, especially his Audi TT, and listening to music.

Liam died just after 3am on Wednesday April 13 with all his family round him.

Liam’s mum, Jackie, paid the following tribute to her son:

“He was one in a million, a real Del Boy with a cheeky grin and a hug for everyone. His pride and joy was his Audi TT, which he called his ‘horses’, and loved taking people out in it.

“He was very loving and would beep at people he knew when he was out and about in his car, to say hi to them. He was also very good at sport when he was at school, winning some awards in water sports.

“His interests were cars, music and women. He liked to live in the fast lane and never stayed anywhere very long.

“He was unique and we miss his sense of humour and practical jokes around the house. He was the kind of person where, if you didn’t know him, you’ve missed out.”

She added: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who has supported us at this difficult time. Your kindness has meant so much to us.”

Liam also leaves behind two sisters – Loren aged 25 and Jade aged 21 who will miss him dearly.

His funeral is due to take place tomorrow (April 21) at 5pm, Harwood Park Crematorium in Stevenage. Anyone who knew Liam is welcome to attend.

Liam’s friends are also planning an event in memory of him on Saturday June 4, through the group Cruise-Herts.
