Jo, Jude & Neil were all part of the Lal Waterson Project, and Chumbawamba and Blowzabella separately.  Proud members of the No Masters Song Writing Cooperative, they rework traditional songs and perform new material and lively instrumentals.  Much entertainment and humour with duelling brass, great accompaniments, and sizzling three-part harmonies.  Featuring trumpet, flugal horn, saxophones, clarinets, whistles and guitars they sound like a much larger ensemble.

Charity Clothing Donations

The charity TEECH will be at their storage unit in Thorndon on the 26th May so if you have any clothing (or other items)you wish to donate come along. All donations will be taken to Moldova this summer when TEECH carry out the installation of toilets/sinks into a school for the children to use (where indoor toilets are unheard of, let alone flushing ones!). Donations will be given out to those who have the greatest need by TEECH volunteers. Alternatively if you wish to join us on the trip then get in touch.

The first food and drink festival of its kind to be held at Henham Park Nr Southwold, this will be a great day out for the whole family in the lovely setting of the historic walled garden. Over the two days of the Festival, our aim is to celebrate and publicise the amazing variety of food and drink available in East Anglia. Local, regional and national firms will exhibit and there will be a special children’s activity area. Cookery demonstrations and talks will be held throughout both days and those purchasing food will be able to store their shopping in a chilled store. East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival 2012

Teams of up to 11 people from local companies, organisations and groups of friends are encouraged to take up the challenge and race in 30' dragon boats to raise funds for St Elizabeth Hospice. As well as racing to see every few minutes, there will also be a full compliment of bankside activities including fun fair, inflatables, preformances from Venue of Performing Arts and catering stands.

 

Plant Heritage Spring Plant Fair

The Plant Heritage Plant Fair offers a great day out for garden enthusiasts! Over fifty exhibitors include specialist nurseries and suppliers of garden accessories, as well as National Collections and a Problem Plant Clinic. This is the thirteenth year of the popular plant fair held at Helmingham Hall Gardens, Suffolk in partnership with Suffolk Plant Heritage (formerly NCCPG). 800 plants of `Spartan Linnet` and `Spartan Display` will be given away free to the first claimants. These chrysanthemums are rarely found for sale and will add vibrant colour to the autumn garden - be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment!

How Far Can you go for the Railway Children in 20:12

30-40 keen cyclists are going to attempt to see ‘how far they can go’ to raise money for the Railway Children (vulnerable children who live alone at risk on the streets) On the 30th May we are going to take on this massive challenge and cycle as far as we can go in 20hrs and 12 mins. Flower Festival 2012

Blickling Craft and Gift Fair

Jubilee 2012

If you like number one hits you can't afford to miss 'Jubilee 2012', the free admission, day long music based event for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee on Monday 4th June on the Recreation Ground in Stowmarket, Suffolk.Local bands, groups and soloists will be taking to the stage in a nine and a half hour non-stop event which will see the performers covering at least one number one hit from every one of the sixty years of the Queen's reign.That means music from the fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties.... right up to the present day, so truly a family day out, with something for everyone, young and old alike. There will be opportunities for the public to join in at various times, and competitions to test your knowledge of chart number ones before the beacon lighting finale (part of the national chain of beacons) and a patriotic finish. The music never stops at this event. If you're part of a group, or a solo performer, and you can play or sing chart hits, or would like to learn some to add to your playlist, you could volunteer now to be one of the acts appearing at Jubilee 2012. We have various activities going on, including bagpipes to open the ceremony, sheep shearing, falconry display, dancing etc. We also have a number of stalls supporting local businesses, mainly craft events. There will be loads of activities for children to take part in, including mini crazy golf, bouncy castles, mini cars as well as all the traditional games, such as stocks, splat the rat etc.

Yoxford Open Gardens

This annual event in aid of charity is to be held on Sunday 10th June from 11am until 5pm.The charities to be supported are:-East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Ipswich)The Rural Community Responders. A plant & produce stall and raffle will be found at the Village HallRefreshments will be available at two of the gardens and also at Satis House and Yoxford Antiques Centre. At least 17 gardens will be open and we hope you will come and enjoy the day as much as we do.

Steve Davis Presentation/Exhibition

Ipswich & District Snooker league have secured the services of 6 times Snooker world Champion Steve Davis OBE to present their trophies and play local league winners in 3 exhibition frames. 3 further frames will be played 2 against raffle ticket winners and 1 against the highest bidder in an auction to be held on the night.Tickets cost £25 and are available by contacting Dave Brown on 07802152038. Dog Olympics for FAITH Animal Rescue

The challenge  involves eight events testing skill,speed,strength and stamina. It is hoped that an All- comers Team can be raised to produce an exciting and unique event. Charity Bike Ride Welcome Home

A group of fathers whose children attend Prep School Brandeston Hall in Suffolk will set off from the the dizzy heights of John O’Groats on 8th June, and in just 8 1/2 days will attempt to make it back to Brandeston Hall in Suffolk for Father Day 17th June - that’s 700 miles by eight rather unfit, and inexperienced dads. If this wasn't enough of a challenge, these dads want to raise over £50,000 in just three months for two fantastic Charities - Bowel & Cancer Research Fund and the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH). Arts in the Broads

Celebrating Arts in the Broads. Rockland St. Mary and Surlingham villages, for the first time, are organising a Celebration of their Broads ecological diversity and local artistic abilities. On both weekends there will be cultural activities such as exhibitions and workshops or arts and crafts. There will be walks through the precious local environment in all its aspects. Both schools children are taking part in the preparations for the weekends.On June 23/24th guided walks will enable visitors to ’meet the Dragonfly or Butterfly’, listen to bats or identify moth. Popular ‘Breakfast with the birds’ and extensive art workshops, pre booked, can be enjoyed by young and old alike. On June 30th/1st.July, both villages will start the weekends arts exhibition by opening up village halls and parish rooms to paintings, drawings and photography exhibitions. Visitors will be able to visit the Broads arts exhibition via canoe’s and there will be a disabled launch to provide access. All three local pubs are putting on BBQ’s, there will be music, an exhibition of sail crafts and rowing boats, as well as a stone sculpture raffle.

Reepham 12 Summer Music Festival

The festival is also proud to present Limehouse Lizzy, one of the top-rated Thin Lizzy tribute bands on the UK and European circuit. The Buster James band is back by popular demand and there will be around fifteen hours of music for all tastes on the Saturday with a full afternoon’s music on the Sunday. The Raveningham Country Fair is a traditional Threshing Fair, stemming from the times when the local farmer had a party for all the villagers who had helped harvest the wheat from the fields. This year we have steam engines, vintage vehicles, craft stalls, Sheringham Shantymen, Hula Hoop display, live bands, clowns, flying model planes, dance displays, BBQ, beer tent and much more. Music goes on throughout the day and into the night. A great fun day out. Adults £5, under 16 free.  All proceeds in aid of local charities.

Mini Charity Ball

Girls Night Out
Location: Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds
Time: 7pm
Date: Saturday 15th September
11.2 or 6 mile, ladies only, moonlit, circular walk around historic Bury St Edmunds. This is St Nicholas Hospice Care's biggest fundraising event. We are aiming for 1000 walkers this year. In honour of the 2012 olympics were are inviting to you to release your inner goddess and wear a toga for the walk!
