The Olympic Torch in East Anglia

Norfolk and Suffolk have given the Olympic Torch Relay a tremendous welcome....and a terrific send-off.

It was greeted by huge crowds and (mostly) brilliant sunshine as it passed through Norfolk on Wednesday 4th July and Suffolk on Thursday 5th, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July.

Everywhere the Torch went it created a range of emotions - excitement, joy and most of all, pride.

Congratulations to all our inspirational Torchbearers and congratulations to all the communities who turned out in such numbers to enjoy their special "moment to shine" with the Olympic Flame. Now we can all feel part of the huge event happening on Saturday 21 July - the start of the Olympic Games.

Browse our galleries and reflect on an historic moment we will remember for a very long time to come.
