An elderly woman has been left with life-threatening injuries after being assaulted in Caister.
Police were called at 5.55am by staff at the James Paget University Hospital who advised a 76-year-old woman had been admitted with serious injuries, described now as life-threatening.
Enquiries led officers to attend an address in St George's Drive, Caister, where a 68-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The woman has been taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre where she will be questioned by detectives.
Police can confirm both parties are known to one another and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The property has been sealed off and enquiries are continuing.
