Heart Speaks To Ipswich's Parliamentary Candidates

27 April 2015, 05:36

With just over a week to go until the General Election, Heart’s been speaking to all the candidates standing in Ipswich about their plans if they win.

Bookies claim the town's among 12 key seats that the Conservatives need to hold on to in order to secure a large enough Commons majority and stay in government.

It's our third constituency report in East Anglia, quizzing local candidates on local issues. Last week we heard from all the candidates for Norwich South, and the week before we interviewed those standing in Waveney.

Standing in May 7th's election for Ipswich are:

    • Ben Gummer - Conservative Party

    • David Ellesmere - Labour

    • Chika Akinwale - Liberal Democrats

    • Maria Vigneau - UKIP

    • Barry Broom - Green

We asked them what their top priorities would be if they're elected and what their plans are for:

  • Reviving the town centre

  • Getting more people into work

  • Tackling a shortage of homes

  • Improving our trains

  • Plans surrounding the Wet Dock Crossing

  • Ensuring people always have access to a GP surgery when they need it

Hear from them all below.

The other 11 areas identified as being key seats for the Tories were: Harrow East, Wirral West, Northampton North, Cannock Chase, City of Chester, Stockton South, Ealing Central and Acton, Brighton Kemptown, Nuneaton, Keighley and Croydon Central.
