Man Found Guilty Of Killing Two Men In Ipswich

An 18-year-old man has today has today been found guilty of the murder of Barry Street and guilty of the manslaughter of Nathan Oakley.

Nelson Smith, formerly of West Meadows, Ipswich had been on trial at the Central Criminal Court (the Old Bailey) for the murders of both men.
 
Police were called on Thursday 8 December around 1.15pm to reports that a man in his thirties, had been stabbed at West Meadows, Ipswich and had collapsed outside the entrance. The man was taken by ambulance to Ipswich hospital.
 
A further call was then received at just after 1.30pm reporting that another man aged in his late teens had arrived at  Ipswich hospital having sustained  stab wounds.  Both men received treatment  but died in hospital a short time later.
 
Police detained Nelson Smith in the vicinity of Paper Mill Lane, Bramford at around 1.35pm on the day of the incident.
 
Following a thorough investigation by the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, Nelson Smith was charged on Saturday 10 December with the murder of Barry Street and Nathan Oakley.
 
Smith will be sentenced on Friday 30 June.
