Man Jailed For £20,000 Robbery

A man who stole money from the bank where he worked has been sentenced to 15 months in prison.


21-year-old Michael Tooth, from Armes Street in Norwich, worked as a Customer Service Advisor and as a Personal Banking Advisor in the Norwich branch of Santander and between February 2010 and January 2011 stole from two customers.

He withdrew cash or transferred funds straight into his own bank account.

DC Keith Linstead said: 'Tooth abused his position of trust by befriending two customers and after building up a relationship with them, taking advantage of their senior years to fund his drug habit. The sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime and let’s other potential offenders know that Norfolk Constabulary will deal robustly with people in similar situations.'

A spokesperson from Santander added: 'Santander has cooperated thoroughly throughout the whole investigation and both customers have had the missing funds fully reinstated.'
