Norwich Fires Could Be Linked

Police investigating a fire that damaged a house in Norwich think it could be linked to other recent arson attacks in the City.

Emergency services were called to St Clements Hill at around 3am yesterday. A hedgerow had been set on fire, which had then spread to a nearby garage and house. Two cars were also damaged.

Investigating officer, PC Craig Bidwell, said: "The householders were able to get out of the property. They were checked over by paramedics and fortunately unharmed. Fires have the ability to spread quickly, as this case shows, and the outcome could have been very different."

Norwich Policing Commander, Superintendent Dave Marshall, added: "We are exploring the possibility of whether this incident is linked to other recent arson attacks in Constitution Hill and Shipfield Road which happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"This is a very serious offence which has the potential for unintended consequences. The person or persons responsible must be identified and it is vital that anyone with information comes forward before someone is seriously injured, or worse."

Witnesses should contact PC Bidwell at Norwich North Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
