Detectives have launched an investigation into two robberies, a rape and an assault which happened in Norwich this morning.
The incidents which happened in the city centre where all reported within an hour between 6.39am and 7.38am which resulted in a search and officers detained a man at Norwich Railway Station.
The 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incidents and has been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Police believed the incidents are linked but are unable to confirm at this time.
Officers were first called to Chapelfield Gardens at 6.39am to reports a woman had been assaulted and raped. The woman is being supported by specially trained officers at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and an area has been sealed off while enquiries continue.
The second call came at 7.27am when a man reported being robbed of his phone on Theatre Street. He was threatened but not injured.
At 7.37am police received a call from a woman who said she had been grabbed and assaulted by a man in the underpass on St Stephens. She suffered minor facial injuries.
The final call came at 7.38am after a man had been robbed of his wallet in London Street. It is not thought he was injured.
Numerous police units were deployed to the city centre to carry out a search for the suspect and enquiries led to a man being detained at the train station.
Detective Inspector Chris Burgess, from Norwich CID, said: "Clearly we are in the early stages of piecing together what happened this morning, however the possibility of the offences being linked is a strong line of enquiry.
"We would really appreciate any calls from people who may have witnessed either of these incidents, or a may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the city centre this morning.”
