Emergency services say they're keeping a cordon around the Chemistry block after a fire broke out this morning at the UEA site in Norwich.

Emergency services were called at 1023am and the fire service were on scene by 1029am.

Crews from 12 fire engines fought the blaze, and used protective equipment as chemicals were involved from the Chemistry lab - but - no specialised teams were needed.

The East of England Ambulance service say they didn't need to treat any casualties but remain on scene as a precaution.

In a statement from UEA at 4pm:

"The cordon around the site of the fire is currently still in place. No one was injured, and the Fire Service are still working to investigate the cause of the fire.

The safety of our staff, students and visitors is our highest priority and we are liaising with the Fire Service to ensure the area is secure before lifting the current cordon."
