A teenager arrested after an elderly woman was raped in her home has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The pensioner called police shortly after 2am on Sunday to report that a man had broken into her home in Felixstowe, Suffolk, and sexually assaulted her.

She suffered a number of injuries and was taken by paramedics to Ipswich Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition, Suffolk Police said.

The force has not released the age of the woman.

A 17-year-old boy from Ipswich arrested on suspicion of rape has been bailed, and is due to return to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre on November 24, officers said.

Anyone who was in the Walton area of Felixstowe in the early hours of Sunday who might have any information in relation to the incident was asked to contact the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
