Norfolk and Suffolk charities get big cash surprises
It was an amazing moment for Norfolk Charity Nelson's Journey as Dave & Heidi from Heart Breakfast surprised them with a cheque for £45,274.00 from Global’s Make Some Noise .
Nelson’s Journey is a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved children and young people throughout Norfolk. They were originally expecting a cheque for £22,637.00 to fund a child bereavement support worker for 1 year. They were thrilled though to actually receive a cheque for £45,274.00. This will enable the support worker to be funded for 2 years.
It was also a fantastic day for Suffolk charity The Suffolk Young Carers, as we surprised them with a cheque for £34, 554.
Suffolk Young Carers is a charity dedicated to providing information, advice and guidance to family carers across Suffolk to help them get the support they need to live fuller lives. The grant from Global’s Make Some Noise will fund salaries for the project part-time support workers for a year and will enable them to fund travel for young people to access the support they need.
Global’s Make Some Noise unites all Global’s brands, including Heart, Capital, Capital XTRA, Radio X, Classic FM, LBC, Smooth and Gold, which reach 24.1 million people every week. Grants are awarded to projects across the UK that help disadvantaged youngsters living with illness, disablity or lack of opportunity.
Heart East Anglia’s Managing Editor, Adam Newstead said: “We are incredibly proud that Global’s Make Some Noise is supporting Nelson’s Journey and The Suffolk Young Carers. We know it can be difficult for smaller charities to reach donors, and we were moved by the work of both our local beneficiaries. We are looking forward to continuing, with our listeners and partners, to raise even more money for even more projects across the UK that are struggling to raise awareness.”
