This Is Rocket Science

If you can’t come on the 17th of July, don’t worry, as there’s always something to do at the National Space Centre throughout  the whole summer!

This is Rocket Science is a workshop for all the family that allows visitors to design, build and launch their very own rocket.  Launched by compressed air, the rockets reach speeds of up to 60mph!

Take your seats in Space Now as our Mission Commanders help you to discover the facts of the USSR ‘v’ USA in the race for space. Space Race… You Decide, is a free activity where visitors get to choose who they think managed to win the Space Race.

From the launch of the first artificial satellite sputnik, to the magnificent lunar landings, visitors will be immersed and overwhelmed with the most accurate historic reconstruction of Man’s first steps into space. Who were these Men and Women that took part in these death defying endeavours? Witness their drive, their passion, and their perseverance to explore, in Dawn of the Space Age the new Space Theatre show in the UK’s largest planetarium.

Leicester Libraries will be joining the National Space Centre team for the Space Hop Summer Story Time Sessions.  Set in the 1969 sitting room, stories of a spacey nature will enthral children of all ages.

Leicestershire County Council will be encouraging people in the county to get out and about over the summer season on the bus.  Leicestershire Attractions by Bus crew will be dropping in the promote the amazing days out on offer in Leicestershire, as well as giving out goodies for all participants.

With six interactive galleries, over 150 hands-on challenges, the UK’s largest planetarium and a whole new Rocket Tower to enjoy, visitors will find the FREE Annual Pass upgrade comes in very handy to ensure the family enjoys everything on this out of this world visit!
