Billericay: CCTV Of Jewellers Theft

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses to a theft at a jewellery shop in Billericay and have released CCTV.

The crime happened at Bellefontaine Jewellers on the High Street when one man entered the shop shortly after 9am on Thursday, November 22 and smashed a counter, before stealing a four-figure sum of jewellery.

He then joined his look-out accomplice and both walked off towards Norsey Road.

Investigating Officer, Dc Sean Judge, said: "As you may see, the man pictured is easily identifiable. Although nobody was injured in this theft, it has left the staff at the shop very shaken up. This man needs to be arrested and taken off the streets. We would urge people to contact us with his name so that this is done sooner rather than later. We continue to also appeal for witnesses to the crime. This theft took place on the high street at peak time so there are clearly passers-by, motorists or shoppers, who would have seen these two men walk out of the shop. They are key witnesses and we would ask them to contact us.'

The man who entered the shop is described as white, of medium build and wore dark clothing, with a scarf over his face and a white Nike beanie hat; while his accomplice, pictured in the CCTV image, is described as white, in his 50s, has short hair, a thin face, pitted facial skins and is approximately 5ft 8ins tall.

At the time, he was wearing a dark leather jacket and carrying a sports holdall which was subsequently filled with the stolen items.

There were no customers in the shop at the time.

Anyone with information in connection with this theft is urged contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101.
