A murder investigation has been launched after a man's body was found in a burned out car in Basildon.
Police called to Pincey Mead, near Pitsea Road, shortly before 5pm on Saturday found the 30 year old's body in a grey Audi A4.
Detectives are treating the death as murder and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Inspector Steve Ellis of Essex Police said: "This happened in a residential neighbourhood so I am hopeful someone will have seen or heard something.
"The vehicle has internal fire damage so I'm keen to speak to anyone who might have seen the vehicle or spotted anyone acting suspiciously in the area.''
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
