Essex Burglars Told Long Sentences 'Likely' After Shooting
Two men have been found guilty of breaking into an Essex mansion where a millionaire businessman was shot in the leg.
Father-of-two Timothy Mardon, 51, was targeted in the mistaken belief he was a drug dealer, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.
He's been left with life-changing injuries.
Charlie Simms, 23, who fired the gun, was found guilty of attempted murder, aggravated burglary and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, Essex Police said.
Christopher Bergin, 27, was convicted of aggravated burglary, wounding with intent, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
All of these verdicts were unanimous.
The third defendant Kalebh Shreeve, 24 of Gibson Road in Halstead, was cleared of all charges.
Simms, of North Road, Great Yeldham, and Bergin, of Hawkwood Road, Halstead, have been warned to expect lengthy prison sentences.
