Chelmsford Concerts Cancelled

A series of concerts at Hylands Park in Chelmsford have been cancelled at short notice.

People with tickets to see Wet Wet Wet on September 14th, Flashback Festival (September 13th) starring Billy Ocean and Marc Almond and Last Night of the Proms which had been due to feature Aled Jones this Sunday night (September 7th) can apply for refunds from the ticket agency they ordered through.

In a statement, the organisers, UK Events and Production, said that the recent V Festival had left the Park in an unsuitable condition for the three concerts:

"The site was recently used for the V Festival and after a recent site visit we do not feel that the area within the park we are using is acceptable to put on our concerts.

"UK Events prides itself on putting on quality outdoor concerts and we feel that going forward with this event would harm our reputation and potentially spoil consumers experience."

Fans have been tweeting their disappointment at the cancellations. @Belindalec said, "@wetwetwetuk cannot believe that after years of waiting you are not playing chelmsford...so disappointing!"

Dutch fan @StokGh @wetwetwetuk added, "I can cry! I lost a lot of money! Hotel, train, bus! I'm coming all the way from the Netherlands. And I will not see you guys!"
