Chelmsford: Photo Released After Man Attacked

Essex police have released a photo of injuries caused to a man following an attack in Chelmsford.

They believe the offender was involved in two assaults that night (Sunday May 27th).

At 2.50am a man tried to sexually assault a woman inside Chicagos nightclub. When she resisted he struck her in the back of the head before leaving the club, bumping in to door staff on his way out.

The woman suffered bruising and swelling to her head as well as neck injuries. A friend of hers, a man in his 20s also from Chelmsford, followed the man out of the club, pointing him out to door staff who were unable to detain him.

The man followed the suspect along Moulsham Street past Quadrant where he was assaulted by another man knocking him to the ground, where he was then further assaulted. He suffered considerable swelling to his face and his mouth was cut and needed stitches.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his early 20s, 5ft 7ins tall, of stocky build, with gelled black hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a black polo shirt top.

Investigating officer Pc Nick Smith said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack on both individuals, narrowly escaping a sexual assault. You can see from the picture we have released just how bad the victim?s injuries to his lip were, and I would urge the public to come forward before this male is able to commit either type of offence again."
