Clacton: Armed Robbers Jailed

8 July 2013, 12:23

Two men who robbed a bank in Clacton armed with a gun, have been jailed for a total of 15 years.

48 year-old George Commons, from Linden Drive in Clacton, and David Worth, who is 41 and from Beach Road in St Osyth, threatened staff at the NatWest on North Road last December.

They got away with more than £6,000. Commons was arrested on December 9, in his own vehicle, which had been used as the getaway car. Worth was arrested on December 10, after handing himself in.

In March, Commons pleaded guilty to robbery and firearms offences, while Worth was found guilty of the same offences last month.

Commons has been sentenced to eight years in prison, and Worth for seven.
