Colchester: Man Charged With Musician's Murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a young musician in Colchester.

26-year-old Thomas Brittain was stabbed in a flat on Parkside Quarter, near St Peters Street, in the early hours of Saturday (March 9th).

Mr Brittain was stabbed several times in his chest and died. Another man suffered an injury to his hand.

19-year-old Andre Vella, from Village Close in Kirby Close, is due at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday March 13th).

Detectives are still looking to question 18-year-old Jack Hummerstone (pictured) from London in connection with Mr Brittain's death. He is described as white, and over 6ft tall.

Anyone with any information about his current location should call police immediately on 999.

Meanwhile tributes have been paid to Mr Brittain, who was a well-known song writer and local music producer who went under the name 'Twister'. 

His family said: "He was a lovely, kind and funny man who will be dearly missed."
