Crews Battle Fire At Southend School
Fire crews from across Essex have been tackling a large fire at Cecil Jones Academy in Southend.
Firefighters were called to the school in Eastern Avenue just before 4.30pm where they found the roof of the two storey building well alight and the property completely smoke logged.
Eyewitnesses reported that smoke from the fire could be seen across Southend and as far as Rayleigh Weir.
Appliances from Southend, Leigh, Shoeburyness, Basildon, Chelmsford, Hawkwell, Corringham, Billericay and Rayleigh Weir were called to the scene.

Incident Commander Neil Fenwick said: "Crews are working hard in arduous conditions to stop the fire spreading to the rest of the building, and are making steady progress."
Eastern Avenue was shut to traffic for several hours on Tuesday evening causing delays to drivers.
