Danbury Man Admits Causing Fatal Crash

A man from Danbury has pleaded guilty to causing a crash that left a teenager dead and another seriously injured.

22 year-old Nicholas Weston, from Pedlars Path, lost control of his van and collided with a tree on Leighmans Road in Bicknacre at around 9.30pm on Saturday, 28 September 2013.

One of the four passengers, 18-year-old William Andrews, from Shirebourn Vale in South Woodham Ferrers, was killed. Another passenger, Joshua Cumberland, who was 18 at the time but is now 19, was seriously injured in the collision.

Weston admitted causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving during a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court.

He will be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday, December 19. He has been bailed until his court appearance but is not allowed to drive.
