Elsenham: Man Dies In House Fire

An investigation's underway after 36-year-old man died in a house fire in Elsenham.

Emergency services were called to Stansted Road just after 10pm yesterday (Saturday January 28th) with reports that the terraced, two-storey property was 100% alight.

Firefighters rescued the casualty from the bedroom of his burning home and administered first aid before leaving him in the care of the Ambulance Service. But he was pronounced dead at the scene at 23:07 hrs.

His 71-year-old father, who has is now homeless by the incident, has been taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The fire was out by 23:39 hrs. The investigation to establish the cause of the incident will begin this morning (Sunday January 28th).
