Essex: Arrest In Stolen Car Crash

A man has been arrested after a car stolen at knifepoint in Chelmsford was involved in a crash in Harlow.

The grey Audi TT convertible was taken at Broomfield Road at about 6.45pm yesterday (Tuesday February 5th) after the owner was threatened with a knife and ordered to hand over the keys.

The car was later seen by police in Harlow but failed to stop for officers.

At about 8.40pm the Audi was found at Howard Way in Harlow where it had been involved in a collision with two other vehicles.

Two occupants of the other vehicles were taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

A 24-year-old man from the Chelmsford area, was arrested on suspicion of road-related matters and was also treated in hospital.

The road was closed until about 5.30am on Wednesday February 6 while police carried out initial investigations and while vehicles were recovered.
