New Year's Eve has been a busy night for Essex firefighters.
Just after midnight crews were called to Victoria Chase in Colchester following a fire in a third floor flat.
Then around an hour later they were called out to another fire in a first floor flat in Harcourt Avenue in Southend. A man in his 60s who suffered injuries had to be rescued and was treated by paramedics.
Crews wore breathing apparatus and used four hose reels to extinguish the fire by 2:30am. An investigation has been launched to find the cause of the fire.
At about 5:15am three crews were called to a fire in a house in Glenwood Avenue in Westcliff. It's thought the fire started when a candle caught light in the kitchen. One man has been treated by paramedics for breathing difficulties.
