Essex: Charge Over ATM Theft

A man has been charged following the theft of the ATM cash machine from a petrol station in Sible Hedingham.

Essex Police were called just after 3am on Tuesday to the Total Service Station when a member of the public reported that someone was ripping the ATM out of the wall using a van.

Police located a van on the A131 which failed to stop for officers and was pursued along the A120 and was stopped near Stansted. The cash machine was also recovered by police.

37-year-old Ian Scott has now been charged with conspiracy to steal an ATM, driving an LDV van while disqualified and failing to stop for police.

He is appearing before Magistrates in Colchester.
