Essex: Met Police Staff Member Arrested

A member of staff at the Metropolitan Police has been arrested at her home in Essex as part of the investigation into phone hacking.

The 38 year-old was arrested at 6am this mornign (Friday, June 7) and has been taken to a police station in east London where she is being questioned on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and corruption. 

It is the 67th arrest in Operation Elvedon, which is the Met Police's inquiry into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials. 

It is being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission and is running in conjunction with Operation Weeting, the MPS phone-hacking inquiry.
