Essex Woman Jailed For Dangerous Driving

A 23-year-old woman from Epping has been jailed for 18 months after a collision which left a man with life changing injuries.

Ria James, from Fiddlers Hamlet, was also given a 4-year driving ban at Basildon Crown Court today (Friday 18 November).

The collision happened in Chelmsford Road, Shenfield on Monday 4 October 2010, when James' Range Rover collided with a Ford Fiesta travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 23-year-old man from Canvey, was left in a critical condition in a London Hospital and received life changing injuries.

His passengers, now aged 22 from Benfleet and 24 from South Ockendon, both received hospital treatment at Basildon Hospital.

The injuries received by the man from Benfleet continue to require surgery, while the 24-year-old man has permanent scarring.
