Flights have been cancelled or delayed at Southend Airport this morning because of dense fog.

A weather warning for fog is in place for much of the country including Essex.

Flights are also being affected at Heathrow, Gatwick and London City Airports but no disruption has been reported at Stansted.

Passengers are being advised to check with their airlines for updates before they travel.

Senior meteorologist Greg Dewhurst says the mist will be around for most of the day: "Light winds and fairly warm, moist air is allowing fog to develop through the evening.

"At this time of the year the sun isn't as strong so it doesn't have the strength to burn off away the fog and the mist during the morning."
