Free Weight-Loss Sessions for Essex
If the thought of a 'fat-fighters' style group is putting you off losing weight then one-to-one sessions, run by the NHS in part of Essex, might be more appealing.
'My Weight Matters' is a 5 week course in Colchester and Tendring offering free advice on diet, exercise and understanding food labels.
It's being rolled out over the whole of North East Essex after a successful trial in four areas, with the aim to help people who do not want to discuss weight management in groups.
Mel Idroos , Health Promotion Coordinator at NHS North East Essex Provider Services, says: "Clients are seen on an individual basis and, with the support of a fully trained facilitator, they work their way through a series of self-help guides."
"This part of the programme lasts five weeks and each session takes just fifteen minutes."
"After this time they can attend on a drop-in basis to be weighed and share their progress towards a healthier lifestyle with one of our Health Champions".
'My Weight Matters' is free to anyone eighteen or older living in North East Essex, with a body mass index greater than or equal to 28.
Anyone interested should call 01206 363002.
