Three people have now been arrested over the fire on Barn Mead in Harlow last October

Police investigating a house fire that killed six members of the same family in Harlow have arrested another two people.

Doctor Abdul Shakoor was the only survivor of the blaze at the family's home in Barn Mead, Harlow, last October.

Police launched a murder investigation after his wife, Sabah Usmani, and their children, Muneeb, nine, Rayyan, six, Hira, 12, Sohaib, 11, and Maheen, three, all died.

The 19 year-old men, who are from Harlow and Portsmouth, were arrested yesterday and questioned about the fire and the burglary that happened before it.

They have both been released on bail until October 31 and it takes the number arrested to three.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Supt Rob Vinson from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "We have made these further arrests as detectives continue to investigate this terrible crime.

"I would urge anyone who has any information to speak in confidence to my team or to members of the community that they trust."
