Heart follows Essex family's efforts to get fit

Dozens of Essex families are now well into the Mend programme which helps mums, dads and the kids get fit, lose weight and change their lifestyles forever.

Heart's following the Owen family - 10 year old Ruby, mum Amanda and grand-dad Alfred - from Little Clacton as they go through the 10-week course.

In some parts of Essex more than one in ten children are obese - the Owen family don't fall into that category, but are trying to be healthier.

Mend - Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it! - was established in 2004 and was devised at the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the University College London Institute of Child Health.
