Injured Essex Footballer Talks To Police

A Billericay Town footballer injured while breaking up a fight outside a nightclub has recovered enough to speak to police for the first time.

Goalkeeper Nicky Morgan, who plays for the Ryman League side, suffered a serious neck injury after intervening in a 10-man brawl outside the Sugar Hut, in Brentwood, on October 28th.

Detectives confirmed that Mr Morgan, who is waiting to be referred to a specialist rehabilitation unit, has now been interviewed.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Police have identified a number of people who were involved in the incident but one man is still outstanding and officers need to interview this man to get his statement and explanation for the fight."

Morgan, 25, has been in intensive care at Queen's Hospital in Romford after being left paralysed.

The nightclub regularly features in the ITV reality show The Only Way Is Essex and is a favourite venue for the cast.
