Tribute has been paid to a 25-year-old man who died in a crash in Inworth on Monday (December 12th).

Charles Punter, known as Charlie, died following a collision in Kelvedon Road at 5.44pm. He was the passenger in a Ford Ka which was in collision with a Ford Ranger.

The tribute from his family is as follows: "Charles Victor Punter, known as Charlie, was a true one-off.

"He will be remembered as a man who would make you laugh, more often than not until there were tears running down your face.

"But there was much more to him than that: Charlie had an incredible work ethic and enthusiasm for life. He returned to Colchester in early December to live with his friends and embark on a new career which we have no doubt he would have succeeded in: when Charlie put his mind to something, he could achieve anything.

"Charlie was born in Wickford, had secondary education in Kings School Winchester and was a grade 'A' student in Peter Symonds College, Winchester, before graduating from the University of Kingston.

"He was so full of potential and his family and friends are devastated that he’ll never have the chance to show us what we all knew he was capable of. We ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time, but invite anyone who knew Charlie to help us compile an archive of memories with which to remember him. "

A 28-year-old woman from Colchester was arrested on December 13, for causing death by dangerous driving.

She has been released on police bail.
