The mother of James Attfield, who was murdered in Colchester, says she is still in a state of disbelief over her son's death.

33 year-old James was found with more than 100 stab wounds in Castle Park exactly six months ago.

Julie Finch has been telling Heart the first three months were the hardest: "Since we've had the funeral it's been easier because Jim being in the churchyard means we can go and visit him, we can still speak to him, he's still very much part of the family.

"Some days I'll go and visit him and I'll go and have a cry, other days I'll go and have a laugh.

"Every day you get up, you go to work, do what you have to do because life goes on. The world doesn't stop, they're not going to say you don't have to pay your mortgage this month because of what's happened.

"You have two options: you crawl into a corner and just curl up and don't face any of it, or you get out there and live your life and do what are doing and that's all we can do."

10 people have been arrested in connection with the murder but no-one has been charged yet.

DCI Simon Werrett from Essex Police says it is a complex investigation: "There's been a considerable amount of forensic items submitted to the forensic team - around 200 - there are witnesses still being seen, we've seized over 100 pieces of CCTV.

"Unfortunately it's not like the television where it's all sorted in 45 minutes, it takes us a long time. Even this week we've spoken to new witnesses so we are speaking to new people all the time."

Extra officers were out in the town on Friday night speaking to people who were out to see if they could find new witnesses. Moving CCTV footage has also been released of two men officers want to speak to.
