She will be presented with an honorary Doctor of Health Science award from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford tonight (Wednesday October 5th).

The singer and actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to beat the disease. She was given the all-clear the following year.

More than 2,500 students from the university will celebrate their graduation today and tomorrow at the Riverside campus.

Author Jilly Cooper OBE and British Olympic swimmer, Mark Foster, will also be among the 12 recipients of honorary degrees this year.
