Man Arrested Over Fatal Crash In Benfleet
A man in his 40s has been arrested after a pedestrian died following a collision with a car in Benfleet.
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash on High Road at around 5.25pm yesterday involving a pedestrian and Renault Traffic van.
Essex Police said: "An air ambulance also landed to assist paramedics already in attendance, but sadly the pedestrian, a woman aged in her 70s, died at the scene.
"A man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody awaiting questioning".
Officers closed the road between the junctions with Kents Hill and Richmond Avenue to investigate.
