Man In Court Over Southend Boy's Death

A man appeared in court accused of causing the death of a six-year-old boy in an alleged hit and run in Southend.

Marek Kolton, 26, of Princes Street in Southend, appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence.

This follows the death of Joseph Ball, who died after being hit by a motorbike as he crossed the road with his mother and four-year-old brother in Southend.

Kolton was remanded in custody to appear at Basildon Crown Court on January 6.
