Man Dies As Car Crashes On Roundabout In Basildon
One man has died and another has been seriously injured after a car crash in Basildon.
A red BMW 3 series crashed on a roundabout on the junction of Broadmayne and Uppermayne at around 10.30pm yesterday (Monday, 20 June).
Essex Police said: "The car hit the roundabout before striking a tree.
"The passenger died at the scene.
"The driver of the BMW car a 22-year-old man from Basildon received serious but not life threatening injuries himself and was conveyed to Basildon Hospital for treatment.
"Part of the roundabout and road had to remain shut since the crash to enable forensic collision investigation work to be undertaken.
"The road was re-opened at around 5.30am.
"Officers from the Serious Collision investigation Unit (SCIU) will be investigating the crash and anyone with any information is asked to contact them on 101 or email firstname.lastname@example.org".
