Man With "Large Knife" Robs Shop In Canvey
A man armed with a "large knife" has gone into a shop on Canvey Island, grabbed a customer, threatened staff and demanded money.
It happened at the Chelmsford Star Co-Op store shortly before 8.30pm on Friday.
No-one was injured but the man made off with a three figure sum of cash.
Dc Jon Holden said: "Thankfully no-one was hurt but this was a terrifying incident that has left the victims shaken.
"Someone will know who this armed robber is and I would appeal to everyone in the Canvey community to help us identify him and bring him to justice."
The suspect is described as white, about 6ft 2ins tall and of slim build.
He wore blue jeans, a black hooded top, a red T-shirt, black gloves, black Nike Air Max trainers and a scarf covering his face.
