Men Charged After Dale Farm Protest

Two men have been charged after a protest over the Dale Farm eviction.

The pair, aged 22 and 29, arrested yesterday on suspicion of committing a public order offence following a protest at the Basildon Council offices have both been charged.

It's after protestors scaled the building and unfurled a banner saying "Tony Ball RESIGN'' referring to calls for the council's leader to quit after the clearance of nearby Dale Farm was delayed by legal proceedings.

Both men have been charged with using threatening words/behaviour to cause harassment alarm or distress and conditionally bailed to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on October 6.
