A 31 year-old man has been told he will not face any charges over the death of a 13 year-old boy on the A127 in Basildon.

Joseph Sheridan, from Wickford, died in hospital following a collision with a car on the Southend-bound carriageway just after 8pm on Monday, 15 February.

Essex Police said: "A man arrested following a road collision on the A127 in Basildon where a 13-year-old boy died is facing no further police action in relation to the incident.

"The 31-year-old from Southend has been released from his bail.

"The incident is now being passed to HM Coroner and an inquest will be held in due course".

The fatal crash led to protestors calling for better safety on the road pictured), to block one of the carriageways the following night for around five hours.
