No help for grandparent childcarers

An exclusive Heart survey's revealed 2 out of 3 people asked, regularly rely on grandparents to provide childcare - as a study says the UK's lagging behind the rest of Europe when it comes to giving them support.

University researchers say our laws disregard the contribution they make in allowing mums and dads to go back to work.

Grandparents who acts as carers here don't get any financial help.

Hilary Barningham from Colchester looks after her two grandchildren to save her son paying nursery fees: "It would be nice if you could get financial help from the Government. I think it's £40 a day, so if you work that out over 4 years, it's a lot of money."
